SunglassesShop.com Review & Giveaway

I have trouble finding just the right pair of sunglasses to wear while running. They either bounce when I run or simply don’t stay in place. I was given the opportunity to review a gorgeous pair of sunglasses from Sunglassesshop.com and I am smitten with them!  Look at my flashy shades here: http://us.sunglassesshop.com/dirty-dog/sport-ecco/-pink-rose-58028/35039.aspx.

I used them on Saturday for my first post surgery run…and they did not bounce, jiggle or otherwise move from my face. They are, in short, perfect for running. Typically I don’t like to run while wearing sunglasses, but these wrap around style glasses have changed my opinion!

Do The Hustle

Great news!  I can begin running in 1 short week and I have already decide on my next big race and my 6th half marathon!  The Santa Hustle Half Marathon at Cedar Point!  I will be running this race with my best friend, Michele, who I have already run 3 half marathons with. She is the best and offers great motivation and support!

Other than my awesome running news I am planning my first Thanksgiving at our house with Jeff’s family. Normally, this holiday is spent with my husband and my brother, but with Karl having moved away from me (no doubt because he loved me too much) and the kids spending the holiday with their mom…I was all set to cook my ass off all day for just me and Jeff. While that is all well and good, I realized that we should invite Jeff’s family over, you know, since I would be cooking anyways…and other than cooking for my family for many, many years, I have never cooked this meal for anyone outside of my family. I have to say that I am terribly excited and only a touch nervous!

My Bo is doing fabulously…he has been a fixture in my life for just over a year now and I couldn’t be happier. Bo is such a great friend and family member to me. He is my #1 cuddle buddy and he doesn’t seem to bother being in our lives at all.  Plus, he’s super cute and loves to give an abundance of kisses.

Otherwise, I am just counting down the minutes until I can go for my first run….

Monday’s Motivation

I am in a huge need for motivation about now. I gained back all of the weight that I had lost this month and I am limited on exercise because of my knee surgery. Good news is that I am hopefully going to be cleared to run in only 2 more weeks!

Monday’s Motivation

This applies to me in every way since I just had my 5th knee surgery last Monday and this was one of the first things I asked when I woke up. I must know when I can run again!

I love that this happens…this is why I track how far I run and how fast I run…then I can always see the improvements!

And this one was just too much fun to leave out today, not motivational in any way but freaking hilarious none the less.

The weekend randoms

After taking the week to recover after Homecoming and the busiest fall at work since I started at the U, I am finally feeling refreshed. I spent some quality time with my Bo and spent a great night having dinner with my grandparents before they jet off to Florida for the winter.

I have the weekend to clean up the house and get some laundry done and maybe pre-make some dinners for the kids and Jeff but then Monday is the day. Monday is knee surgery #5 day. I have had all 5 surgeries on my right knee. When I was 15 I hurt my knee playing some off season soccer. I ended up hyper-extending my knee, twisting it and tearing quite a few things in the process. When my knee swelled up to the size of my soccer ball and the ambulance got there, I knew I had done some damage. 4 surgeries, 4 half marathons and 1 marathon later I am having some trouble straightening my leg. There is something blocking my knee from even straightening so I am walking with a mega limp right now. I am totally ready for my surgery on Monday. Sure, I am nervous but I am ready to walk normally again.

Other than that I am also worried that I may not be able to run anymore. I know I shouldn’t think the worst, but now that I have fallen in love with running I feel like I would have such a huge whole in my life. But, should I be able to run again…I am going to run a spring marathon. Go big or go home. I want to take the proper time to train and rehab, but I think that I can beat my time from my first marathon…I know I can.

Even though I have not been able to run in the past month, I am doing a great job at losing weight so far. I have lost over 6# and I am on my way to losing 20 more!
Otherwise, life is as normal as it gets in the Kessler household.
Have a great weekend!
