December 31, 2012: Re-dedication time

My weight loss over the last 2 months had been very steady up until 2 weeks ago. I had hit 131 pounds (remember that I am only 5’1″) and I was ready to bust into the 120’s at any moment. Then, I gained 2 pounds, lost 1 pound, lost 1 pound, gained 2 pounds….you get the idea. I am basically stuck at 131 pounds. I have gained and lost the same 2 pounds over the last 2 weeks and I am ready to see some 120’s on my scale. So I am rededicating myself to Body By Vi shakes. I am not selling anything so there is no need to close your browser, I am just commenting on what has helped me to lose the weight and helping to keep myself in check. Talking with other people about my 13 pound weight loss has helped keep me committed and not binge nightly on craptastic foods like I used to. I would seriously sit in front of the television and eat anything my heart desired. And I wonder why I was 143 pounds and in the overweight BMI range?

I am trying a high protein, low fat diet in the hopes that I can bust through this plateau and start actually losing weight again. I am also going to add in more cardio to the mix as well as some weight training. The thing that I am not looking forward to is getting up early to go running in the dark. Running in the dark doesn’t bother me, I have a crazy bright vest so I am highly visible, it’s the getting up early part that kills me. I love my sleep, as most people do, but giving up my sleep to become more fit, toned and slender, I think I can make that sacrifice.  If my friend Amy from Texas can do it, then I can sure as shit try my best!
Did I mention that Jeff and I are going to Las Vegas for the first time!?  Yes, I have been there numerous times for work, but I have stayed clear of anything that was considered run because Jeff and I wanted to experience it together, so I have been there more than 6 times and never done anything more fun than shopping. Okay, that is fun, but not to Jeff. Anyways, I want to be in better bathing suit weather come the end of January so I don’t look mushy when I try and lay out by the pool!

Starting tomorrow, January 1, 2013, I will rededicate myself to running. I have a 5K tomorrow that I will run and the passion I have for running will kick back in once I get a few miles under my belt. Plus, this should help me with some of my plateau-busting! Do you have any tried and true plateau busting tricks for me? I could sure use the help!  My new winter running motto: See below…

I remember how much I LOVE winter running! Running in the snow is one of my favorite times to run. Running in the summer heat makes me feel like death so I try and avoid running when the temperature is over 75*, seriously. I don’t see how people run in the heat.  I know weight loss, if done correctly, doesn’t happen overnight or even in a few weeks. I know that I need to dedicate myself to running, eating better and getting my protein in each day now that 2013 is here. I promise to also be around more here, posting more regularly and showing all of my slow running pictures!
Tomorrow is my first 5K in over 6 months, I’m excited!!

Happy New Year’s Eve everyone!
Have a safe night!

Post-Christmas Thoughts

It has been so long since I have felt like writing. I don’t know what has happened in the last 5 months or so, but I just don’t feel the urge to write anymore. I am hoping that it will come back because, as usual, I have plenty to talk about, with no want to write it.  I have been given a few great opportunities for product reviews so you’ll see those coming your way over the next two weeks.  It is amazing how great products I have never tried before can change my life in such a great way after only one use or after realizing I can no longer live without it!

My Bo had a great Christmas. He is in love with his new, and giant, bone we gave to him. He has buried it in the couch, slept with it and just recently started to chew on it, I think this was a home run Christmas gift for him!

photo (5)I am still on my bipolar medication and I think that it is generally helping me in the long run with my feelings and moods. The medication may even be the reason I have not felt a strong urge to want to write anymore. Like I said, I’ll just have to force myself to write again and hope that habit clicks in so I am writing on a normal schedule again. There is something so freeing for me to writing down my story and share it with others.
I am starting to run again and it seems to be going pretty well since my 5th knee surgery in October. After a small injury in the beginning of December I am back at it with a vengeance!

I have also been consistently losing weight over the course of the past 2 months. I am down a total of 13 pounds right now, with about 13-17 more to lose until I am at goal weight. I am finally within the healthy BMI range again, for a long time I was categorized as overweight, I never want to get that heavy again!  How am I losing weight?  I am eating around 1200 calories per day and exercising when I have the time to. I have always heard that weight loss is primarily done in the kitchen, so that is what I am truly focusing on, with great results!  I have lost an average of 1.6 pounds per week and all of my clothes are starting to fit more normally again!  Goodbye baggy, shapeless clothing!  Hello everything in my closet that I have not been able to wear in the past year +. One thing that did help me lose weight was Body By Vi shakes. I mixed these shakes with some Silk Almond Milk (original flavor) and I had a 150 calorie drink that kept me full for hours with plenty of protein!

Here’s to hoping that within the next two months I’ll be down to my goal weight!
Happy Friday, I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

FRS Review

I am always on the lookout for a product that will give me exactly what I want at a price I can live with.  Namely, I am looking for an easy way to get protein on the go without having to lug out the blender. Enter FRS Healthy Performance products. I was given 6 drinks to try and some water bottle drink mix as well as some FRS Healthy Energy chews.

The bottles were as follows:
2 bottles of Healthy Energy
2 bottles of Healthy Protein
2 bottles of Healthy slim

I particularly enjoyed the Healthy Slim drinks, they only had 20 calories in the entire bottle and it had a great taste that didn’t seem watered down, it was a strong taste like any normal drink.

The orange healthy energy chews were not my style of chew, but the pomegranate blueberry chews were right up my alley. They were flavorful and extra chewy, the orange chews were much harder as they had a hard shell to them. But they both made my energy level feel sustained throughout the day.

My favorite find from this box of goodies were the Healthy Protein drinks!  I tried each one out after a run and I did not get tired or hungry after the run, this is a great amount of protein and it tastes great! Some protein drinks are gritty and generally unpleasant, so these were a great change of pace!  They are pre-mixed and ready to drink. I preferred my drinks to be cold so I made sure I had them in the fridge long enough before my runs that I could enjoy a nice cold protein drink post run!

I will be buying the Healthy Protein drinks again, they were flavorful and delicious, next time you are out at the grocery store or drug store, look around for some FRS products, you’ll be happy you did! You can also search for a retail location for FRS products HERE.

**I was given FRS products to try through Fitfluential, all product was free to me but my opinions are my own. View my disclosure policy above for questions.

So Long, Farewell

Seeing as I have been entirely MIA the past few weeks I am ready now to update about my life.
Jeff and I have started taking the meal replacement, Body By Vi, and we are doing fantastic on it. I have lost just over 10 pounds in the last 5 weeks and I cannot believe my will power or my dedication to be honest with you. I am typically a large snacker when I get bored, which is quite often at times. I have to always have something to ‘do’ or else I want to eat. I have been trying my best to not eat at all hours and obviously it has been working!  I am beyond ready to get rid of the next 20 pounds and start feeling good about how I look.

Jeff and I started Body By Vi to help us cut down on our calories with each meal, we have only been taking it for 2 days now so I don’t have any dramatic results to share with you, but I can report that it tastes AMAZING and it does help to keep us full from meal to meal.

My Bo is still the most lovable dog I have ever owned, I can’t imagine my life without him. He is my entertainment in so many ways, he is always ready to play or cuddle, those are his two speeds, crazy or cuddle.

Our Christmas Tree is up and I absolutely love the way a real tree smells in my house. Each time I walk into the room I am flooded with reminders of Christmas’s past, and all from the smell of this beautiful tree.

Otherwise, life is much the same…work is busy, life gets hectic and there is always cleaning to do.  I won’t take such large leaves of absence in the future, thanks for understanding how crazy life gets.
Happy Sunday!
