Dave’s 10-Miler Race Recap 2018

Dave’s 10-Miler was a blast this year!

They had the largest field in the 43 years of the race, the weather was above freezing and the Yeti didn’t get unruly with the crowd. There was extreme fog all day and during the race. It was hard to see more than a half mile-ish in front of you. Personally, I liked it because I tend to look ahead and think ‘OMG, I still have that far to run until I turn.’ This race is run on country roads and they aren’t the most aesthetically pleasing in the winter. This race is a mental mind fuck for me for sure. I like to have things to look at to distract me.

I had an extremely rough race. Not because the running was difficult or because of the weather. Because of my heart. My heart had some issues during the race and had a huge freak out after the race. It scared the shit out of me to be honest with you. That’s information for another time though.

The medals race were redesigned this year and looked amazeballs. The Yeti adds a lot of fun to the medal! They are heavy and extremely well-made. Definitely love how this one looks hanging on my medal rack!
The race is run in Delta, Ohio at the local high school. We are lucky to have somewhere to hang out inside since the Ohio winter isn’t typically very forgiving. Run Toledo and Dave’s Running Shop know how to put on a stellar race in every way. They think of small details that most people take for granted at races. The medals and shirts are on point, the midwest hospitality is always welcomed and the events always flow smoothly without issues.

This was Chad’s first 10-Miler and he killed it, even had a great time doing it. I can’t believe I got this guy into running like I did. It is definitely nice to have someone to greet me at the finish line…since he’s so much faster than me. I have a built in cheerleader to cheer me on.I was also able to meet one of my Mercy Health Glass City Marathon Ambassadors, Michael DeLapp. He came down to Delta from Saint Clair Shores, Mich. and ran the race with his dad. Meeting my Ambassadors has been so much fun this year, we are all excited for the races on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22.Mark your calendars, the date for next year is already set for Sunday, January 20, 2019!
