Dave’s 2016 Marathon in Training Program

The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon is in just over 19 weeks. Sure, that seems like forever, it is over four and a half months away. But training for a marathon is an average of 18 weeks and when you begin training you should be able to run at least 6 miles for a long run. Training for a distance race can be challenging and frustrating at times because building your mileage takes time.

Dave’s Marathon in Training is the official training program for the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon and Owens Corning Half Marathon. The 16-week, all-inclusive program offers the benefit of personal coaching through a training plan designed to enable you to achieve your goal. There are even different pace groups to meet your needs and coaches assigned to each group. unnamed

I have never trained with a group, let alone even run with a group, so I am excited to see how the marathon training goes for me. I know that I’ll definitely benefit from some speed workouts and finding a comfortable pace for the 26.2 miles. Speaking of pace, here are the pace groups that Dave’s is offering:

3:15 (and faster)                          4:10
3:25                                              4:25
3:35                                              4:40
3:40                                              4:55
3:55                                              5:10 (and slower)

Dave’s Marathon In Training runs from Tuesday, January 5th through Sunday, April 24th.
Speed workouts are held Tuesday OR Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at the Perry Field House on BGSU’s campus.
Long runs are held Saturday mornings in various area Metroparks at 8:00 a.m.

The cost of the half marathon and marathon training is $124.95 with a $7.50 SignUp fee applied.
Registration ends on January 4th, so make sure to sign up by then to take part in this fantastic training program!

  1. I would so do this if I lived closer (although still not sure I’m doing a half in 2016). I stink as a runner but maybe an actual group with someone who knows what they’re doing would help. Hope you have a great time!
