Way to Wuss Out

I am pretty busy this winter/spring.  Between 2 graduate classes, volunteer hours for one of those classes, a full time job, marathon training, having a family and trying to find time for myself to stay sane, my schedule is pretty full.
So I need to maximize the hours in any given day. How do I do it? With my Erin Condren Life Planner. I tried to keep my planner on my cell phone, I tried to be all high tech and use the calendar feature to plan out my weeks. But that was an epic failure of mine. I found that I much prefer a paper planner. I need to see the week at a view and know when my appointments are. I need to be able to scribble notes in the margin about what I need to accomplish for the week. I needed this:

Every school assignment is in there, every activity the kids are in-all in there, work meetings-in there…if anything is happening in my life, it is in my Life Planner. I even plan out my workouts in my planner:

The only problem that I am having with planning my workouts is ACTUALLY DOING THE WORKOUTS! I have mastered the eating side of weight loss, now I just need to continue to add in the exercise portion of weight loss. I would hate to end up skinny fat after all of this weight loss. By the way, I am down 16 pounds overall from the beginning of November, 3 of those pounds just in the last week alone! I couldn’t be happier. I only hope that I keep killing it so these last 8-13 pounds come off so I can start to maintain my weight instead of focusing on losing.

Yesterday I skipped my 3 miler and my Jillian Michaels’ Body Revolution. Why?  I chose to write a paper for school instead. So I wasn’t slacking off at all, but I wasn’t taking care of my health in the best way either. Could I have done both?  Probably. But the paper was more important so I chose to direct my focus there. So I thought that I would make up for it this morning, get up early and get my run in and my Jillian Michaels’ Body Revolution in, too. I woke up at 5:30 and then I heard it. Rain. Hard rain. And since I don’t have a dreadmill to run on I chose to go back to bed instead of trying to be brace and running in the rain. Hopefully the rain will stop and I’ll have time to go for a run tonight and time for some Body Revolution. I need to start getting in the habit of working out everyday, no matter what. Once I have that mastered, there will be no stopping me I’m sure!

Just so you know. Erin Condren doesn’t know who I am. This isn’t a sponsored post, I am just insanely in love with her Life Planners.

Do you like to get up early to workout or do you prefer an afternoon workout?
Convince me I need to start getting up early again to workout in the early mornings before my day begins!!

I am definitely a morning runner now. I have to get it out of the way first or I feel like I am missing out on family time, or making them wait while I work out. They are totally supportive though, so it’s really not like that, but to me it feels like that. I have to say, even though it’s great to be including the Jillian Michaels workout, maybe you need to consider cutting back on it. If you aren’t getting those training miles in, you will be very sorry with your performance (and sore) come April. Keep your goal in mind. Also, maybe just talk yourself into doing 1 or 2 miles on a day that you are super busy, and I bet you will want to continue and do the whole thing instead of just 1 or 2. Gotta make it a habit!… ps, love your planner!!

    • That is exactly what I need to do, is keep my goal in mind. I need to get out for these shorter runs and not only get out for my long runs. I need to remember that these shorter runs are just as important as the long runs each week!

  2. I love planners but I forget to carry them with me so I try to make the best use out of my iPhone and iPad for scheduling my days.
