I ran my 5th Half Marathon on Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio with my best friend who happens to be a fantastic running partner! It was along the towpath and fairly pretty. This would be a terribly beautiful running course in the fall with the changing foliage.
Michele and I lined up for the 8am start:
Then it happened. The whorish hills happened. They were pedestrian bridges over the roadway that were built with whores and then painted in whore colored paint.
You see, Northwest Ohio is flat like a 6 year old girl and we don’t have any hills except for freeway overpasses, but the whorish hills in Cleveland were rough on me and especially on my thighs, man are they sore today!
I found myself running alone for a short stretch of path…
THEN I realized that I missed a turn and was going the wrong way, the volunteers were clueless that I was going the wrong way down the path and were NO help at all actually…(only in that manner, they were fabulous in every other way of course). After I went backwards down the path I joined the rest of the group for the third out and back of the course. Have I ever mentioned that I hate out and backs? I prefer new scenery during every mile of the course, that isn’t too much to ask for, right?
It turns out that even with the whorish hills I set a new PR for myself! 2:32, 4 minutes faster than my last PR that I set only 2 weeks ago! I am on a PR roll lately! WOHOO!
Even Flo from Progressive was geeked about my PR:
Michele and I had a great race, I think people could see us coming from a mile away with our race gear we chose…
Michele and I did see this gem of an outfit at the start of the race, it was amazing in so many ways.
But in the end I was with my best friend, both of us with new PR’s and ready to scarf on some Chipotle after a shower. A great day in all!
